Alex Houston and Elmer

 Here are some vintage posters featuring late ventriloquist Alex Houston and his sidekick Elmer. Alex performed all over the country and on television. I was honored to meet Alex and Elmer a few years ago at a get together in Pigeon Forge. These posters were graciously given to me by Alex’s family.

Charlie McCarthy Ring

 Here’s a piece that is really special to me for a few reasons. It’s a gold Charlie McCarthy ring with a diamond monocle. What’s even more special is that it belonged to my friend the late Bob Isaacson. Thanks to Tyler Ellis for helping me acquire it. I thought the world of Bob and am honored to have this piece.

Part of the Collection

 Part of my collection. I am always on the lookout for Bill Boley figures, especially his crazy bird figures. If anyone has one that wants to fly south let me know.

Col. Bill Boley Crazy Bird

 Boley Bird #8 has landed in The Dummy Den. I recently acquired this vintage Crazy Bird figure made by the late great Col. Bill Boley. He has some provenance as he came from the collection of magician and ventriloquist Jay Marshall via his grandson. I’m honored to have this figure. I believe he had moving wings at one time because there is space where the wing mechanisms would normally go as well as hooks for the strings. The wings have since been glued to the sides. When I started collecting ventriloquist figures, my first figure as a collector piece was a yellow Crazy Bird. I just love those little guys.

Pawn Stars Dummy

 Meet Ken! He is a vintage ventriloquist figure. He was made by Mack, the same figure maker of Charlie McCarthy. You may recognize Ken. He was the dummy that was on an episode of Pawn Stars alongside Terry Fator.

Charlie McCarthy Memorabilia

 Before I left for the ventriloquist convention in 2022 a package arrived containing some real treats. I was able to acquire a replica of Charlie McCarthy made by Schrum Studios and authorized by the Bergen Foundation. This is a non working museum quality Charlie. I was also able to get a signed photo of Edgar Bergen as well as a signed check by him and his wife. Bergen is one of my top three inspirations and I am overjoyed to have these pieces.

Knowhutimean Vern!

 I’ve always been a big fan of Jim Varney and his iconic character Ernest P. Worrell. 

I’m thrilled to share my latest acquisition. This is something I have searched for for over 10 years. I present to you Ernest’s ventriloquist dummy Woody! This is the actual ventriloquist dummy that Jim Varney used in shows such as “Hey Vern, It’s Ernest.”

Being a ventriloquist and Ernest fan, I am so blessed to have this piece.
